BASF raises prices for methylamines and methylamine derivatives

Mo, 8 October 2007

BASFBASF is raising its prices for methylamines and methylamine derivatives in Europe with immediate effect unless existing contracts state otherwise. The markups are due to the significantly increased raw material cost.

  • Monomethylamine / + 180 €/mt
  • Dimethylamine / + 250 €/mt
  • Trimethylamine / + 285 €/mt
  • Dimethylethanolamine (DMEOA) / + 150 €/mt
  • Monomethylethanolamine (MMEOA) / + 90 €/mt
  • Methyldiethanolamine (MDEOA) / + 70 €/mt
  • 3-(Dimethylamino)propylamine (DMAPA) / + 150 €/mt
  • Dimethylformamide (DMF) / + 160 €/mt
  • N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) / + 210 €/mt

The high-grade specialty amines, which include mono-, di- and trimethylamine, are starting materials for solvents, especially for dimethylformamide (DMF). DMF is used mainly as an additive in making polyacrylonitrile fibers and leather substitutes based on polyurethane. Methylamines also serve as chemical building blocks in the synthesis of crop protection agents, detergent raw materials and feed additives as well as water-treatment products.
