| Subject: | Dear Colleagues,
CREON invites you to take part in the II Global Conference «Plastics in Transportation Industry 2010» which is to be held on May 25, 2010 at «Baltschug Kempinski Moscow» Hotel. Two difficult years have past since our last conference. Along with the financial sphere the crisis has a serious impact on industry: the car sales decreased the orders for production of helicopters, airplanes and marine ships declined as well. As a result a production of transport machinery sharply decreased. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel: experts believe that the peak of the crisis is past and the production becomes to “recover”.
So, what is the state-of-the-art situation of plastic composite articles (PCA) for transport machinery production in Russia? There were plans back in 2008 to build new production facilities and to create engineering for PCA production. To what degree these plans have been fulfilled and what are the perspectives?
The expansion of Russian PCA production for transport machinery, namely, building of ships, airplanes, helicopters and cars as well as military applications, is always discussed in the frame of localization. For example, in automotive industry, big unit assembly (SKD) productions do not stimulate foreign auto producers to switch to full-scale automobile production in Russia till the end of tax privilege period: in 3 years it is necessary to use 30% of domestic-made details, and in 5 years – 50%. In 2010 tax privilege period will expire for major part of foreign automotive producers in Russia.
What will be the results? Are the foreign producers, who have production lines in Russia, ready to place the orders for PCA on Russian production sites? Will it be at already existing plants or at new ones? The major PCA production companies do need of serious upgrading.
Raw materials supply for polymer automotive components production is a very important subject. Is it possible to substitute import of raw materials for compounds? Are Russian-made polymers (PE, PP, PS, ABS and other) appropriate for usage in such compounds?
The production of responsible automotive articles (engine parts, fuel system, suspension, interior parts and others) from Innovative Advanced Plastics is also a vital question. How many of them are used in Russian made planes and cars, helicopters and marine ships? The world tendency is clear- their share grows. What are the prospects of this direction in Russia? Who will lead this direction both in R&D and in the industrial field?
These and other questions are to be discussed at the Conference «Plastics in Transportation Industry 2010». Among the participants are all the major players in the market of plastic composite materials - AvtoVAZ, “GAZ-Autocomponenty”, Bus Plant “Volzhanin", “Vertolyoty Rossii”, “Kompamid", “Company “ Sukhoi”, “RZD”, SOLVAY SA, “OKB Yakovleva", "Aerokompozit", “Petrov’s Institute of Plastic”, "MiG", "Sibur", "Tupolev", "TSAGI" , “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” and many others.
We hope that you will join the Conference.
