The market’s recovery has injected optimism into the plastics and rubber industry: That was tangible at the world’s No. 1 fair for the industry, and set a very positive mood among the 2,914 exhibitors at K 2004 in Dьsseldorf. Companies have reported not only an unexpectedly large number of new contacts forged but also a greater readiness to invest – which in many cases over the fair’s eight-day run translated into deals sealed. For their part, trade visitors who had travelled from over 100 countries to attend K in Dьsseldorf were deeply impressed by the wealth of technological developments showcased by raw materials producers, machine builders and manufacturers of technical parts.
Ulrich Reifenhдuser, Chairman of the K 2004 exhibitor council, sums up the event with these glowing words: “K 2004 has not only far exceeded expectations but generated new impetus and, best of all, new business for all sectors of our industry! Increasing global consumption of plastic products has triggered growing demand not just for raw materials but also for machinery and intermediates. Our clients are under pressure to produce better and faster, as well as less expensively.
With the high-performance plants and materials unveiled at K, these demands can be met. Investments that have long been put off are now being made. And this is apparent not only in specific contractual negotiations but also in the wealth of deals closed here at the fair.” The results of the exhibitor survey conducted at K 2004 substantiate this view: Almost 91 percent of the companies interviewed rated the commercial outcomes of their participation as very good to satisfactory. As many as 92 percent expect good post-fair business.
