INTERPLASTICA 2007 : The 10th International Specialized Exhibition of Plastics and Rubber

Organizers:Messe Dьsseldorf GmbH
Subject:

INTERPLASTICA 2005Showcasing powerful innovations in the fields of mechanical engineering, raw materials production and processing, INTERPLASTICA 2005 Moscow received a high visitor response and defended its title as the No. 1 fair for plastics and rubber technology in the Russian market. Over 25,000 professionals from all over the Russian Federation and neighbouring countries came to the Zao Expocentr in Krasnaya Presnya from 13 to 16 December to view the latest at INTERPLASTICA and its parallel event UPAKOVKA / UPAK ITALIA, trade fair for packaging technology. The exhibition halls set the stage for serious business talks and a host of orders.

Werner M. Dornscheidt, President and CEO of Messe Dьsseldorf GmbH, was pleased with the outcome: "Undeniably, the plastics industry is especially benefiting from Russia's economic upturn. And we've proven once again that if you want to share in the success of this fast-growing market, local presence is indispensable. INTERPLASTICA has established its role as a springboard to the Russian market. The expertise Messe Dьsseldorf has gained through K, the world's No. 1 fair for plastics and rubber, has helped it make INTERPLASTICA even stronger."

INTERPLASTICA was fully booked, with a net exhibition space of approx. 10,000 square meters and 450 exhibitors - the largest staging of the fair to date. Austria, Germany and Italy officially sponsored national joint participations. German, Russian and Italian companies accounted for the most exhibitors. There were 120 companies from Germany, 110 from Russia (up from 70 at the last staging!) and 90 from Italy.

Russia has become a key export market for German suppliers; as of the third quarter of 2005, it ranks third among the most important sales markets, reports Lilli Rudnick of the VDMA's specialised section for plastics and rubber machinery. "Russia’s plastics and rubber consumption has grown continuously over the last ten years, and the flourishing economy points to this positive trend prevailing for some time to come. Due to demands for higher quality, Russia’s processing industry is called upon to deliver more and more high-end parts. Consequently, there is a greater need for state-of-the-art equipment. The Russian plastics and rubber industry has responded to changing demands and invested briskly in up-to-date technology over the past few years."

Mario Maggiani, deputy general manager of Assocomaplast, an Italian plastics and rubber machinery association, agrees: "The Russian market for machinery and equipment for plastics and rubber processing is becoming more and more attractive to Italian companies and, for the first time, has outranked China. Western European machines are now greatly valued for their high quality and innovative technology. The Italian exhibitors are happy with the business they did at INTERPLASTICA 2005".

This year, there was also a joint participation among Taiwanese companies. Paggy Shen, executive secretary of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, explains: "Apart from India, Brazil and China, Russia is a growth market for Taiwanese companies, due to the large interest in pipe extrusion lines, for instance. Taiwanese exhibitors participate in INTERPLASTICA to make new business contacts but also to find representatives within the country".

INTERPLASTICA's exhibitors gladly welcomed the bustling crowds, and were particularly impressed with the selective interest shown by experts. Herbert Kaindl, sales area manager of Engel, an Austrian company, says, "The market for injection moulding machines is developing particularly well in Russia, regardless of speciality - packaging, automotive accessories or technical injection moulding. For us, it was definitely worthwhile displaying a larger range of exhibits at the fair. We received a lot of promising business enquiries".

For Plastautomatic Company, a plastics machinery supplier in Moscow, INTERPLASTICA is the top fair in the entire Russian Federation as it is the first to unveil new innovations. Irina Podolskaya, assistant to the company’s general manager, states, "The fair has made a name for itself and receives a high turnover of visitors. Most important for us are the new customer contacts - about one in three new business contacts we make during any one year are thanks to INTERPLASTICA. Visitors come to Moscow from all over Russia and the entire CIS region".

When it comes to exhibiting, the Atlant company from Belorussia also sets store by INTERPLASTICA. As Viktor Nemera, marketing division manager, explains, "This is the top Russian fair for us to initiate new business and take new orders. We find our customers and potential customers - manufacturers of household appliances and consumer electronics, as well as suppliers to the automotive industry, cable companies and the electronics industry - at INTERPLASTICA".
